Jerald Napoles and Kayla Rivera, well-known for their performances on stage, have ventured into a new realm by headlining TV5’s latest primetime comedy game show, “Barangay Singko Panalo.” This innovative show, which combines elements of a game show and sitcom, draws inspiration from the everyday experiences of Filipinos.
In the show, Napoles takes on the role of Kagawad Je, while Rivera portrays SK Kayla. Napoles, recognized for his comedic prowess and leading roles in television and film, expressed his excitement upon being offered the opportunity to host the show. Reflecting on his childhood admiration for game show hosts, he described the experience as a dream come true. On the other hand, Rivera, initially a radio DJ, was pleasantly surprised to receive the call for the show. Having expressed her interest in television hosting to her management, she felt grateful for the opportunity to expand her hosting skills. Acknowledging her novice status in this format, she turned to her co-host Napoles for guidance. Despite her initial concerns about her fluency in Tagalog, she found reassurance in the supportive environment created by Napoles and the directors. Rivera emphasized the value of authenticity and self-expression in her journey as a host.
“Barangay Singko Panalo” features distinct episodes showcasing challenges faced by contestants from various barangays. Participants navigate unpredictable tasks throughout the rounds, with only one advancing to the jackpot round for a chance to win up to P100,000.
