Bolick Leads NLEX to Strong Finish Before Break

In a thrilling match-up against Blackwater, Robert Bolick showcased his exceptional skills to lead the NLEX Road Warriors to their third consecutive win in the PBA Philippine Cup. Bolick’s stellar performance nearly resulted in a triple-double, as he contributed 21 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals, solidifying NLEX’s 103-97 triumph over the previously undefeated Blackwater team at the PhilSports Arena on March 13.

Robert Bolick’s versatility and leadership on the court were instrumental in NLEX’s victory. Assistant coach Borgie Hermida praised Bolick’s all-around abilities, emphasizing his scoring prowess, playmaking skills, and decision-making under pressure. Bolick’s crucial three-pointers in the final minutes of the game proved decisive, securing the Road Warriors’ win and improving their record to 4-1 before the upcoming month-long break.

While Bolick’s performance stood out, the entire NLEX team displayed resilience and depth in the game. Rookie Jhan Nermal showcased his scoring ability with 16 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, while contributing 7 rebounds. Additionally, players like Dominic Fajardo, Robbie Herndon, and Baser Amer made significant contributions to the team’s success, highlighting NLEX’s balanced roster and collective effort in securing the victory.

Despite their impressive performance, Bolick emphasized the importance of staying focused and prepared for the challenging matchups awaiting NLEX in the coming weeks. With games against formidable opponents like San Miguel, TNT, and Barangay Ginebra on the horizon, Bolick urged his team to maintain their intensity and readiness for the tough stretch ahead.

NLEX faced adversity with head coach Frankie Lim sidelined due to injury, requiring deputy coach Jong Uichico to step in and guide the team. Uichico’s experience and leadership, coupled with the players’ determination, enabled NLEX to overcome obstacles and secure the victory against Blackwater.

Despite a strong performance from Rey Suerte, who led Blackwater with 21 points, the team struggled with free-throw shooting down the stretch, ultimately leading to their first loss of the season. Players like Rey Nambatac and Troy Rosario contributed 16 points each, but Blackwater’s inability to capitalize on key opportunities hindered their chances of maintaining their unbeaten streak.

NLEX’s triumph over Blackwater showcased their resilience, teamwork, and ability to perform under pressure. As they prepare for upcoming challenges in the league, Bolick and his teammates remain focused on continuous improvement and maintaining their competitive edge. With a well-deserved break ahead, NLEX aims to return stronger and ready to face the top contenders in the PBA Philippine Cup.
