Paris Olympics Security Excludes 800 Individuals
Around 800 individuals with suspicious intentions have been barred from participating in the Paris Olympics due to security concerns, as revealed by French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. Among them, 15 individuals were identified as posing the most serious threat to national security.
Rigorous Screening Process
Darmanin emphasized the extensive security measures in place, stating that all individuals associated with the Olympic Games, including volunteers, torchbearers, and event staff, undergo thorough scrutiny. Over 180,000 checks have already been conducted, resulting in the exclusion of 800 individuals, including those on the ‘Fiches S’ list.

Notably, some of the excluded individuals were identified as “radical Islamists” and “radical ecology people who want to protest,” highlighting the diverse range of security concerns being addressed.
Preventive Measures
French security forces are actively screening up to a million people in preparation for the Olympics, including athletes, residents near critical infrastructure, and other stakeholders involved in the event.
As part of the security protocols, all 10,500 Olympic athletes, 4,400 Paralympic athletes, coaches, medical staff, and 26,000 accredited journalists will undergo comprehensive background checks before the commencement of the games.
Upcoming Events
The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, followed by the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8. The heightened security measures are a response to the ongoing threat of terror attacks, with France maintaining a high alert status since October.
France has faced security challenges from various extremist groups over the years, with recent incidents underscoring the importance of stringent security protocols to ensure the safety of participants and spectators during major international events.
