UN Security Council Condemns M23 Rebel Group Attacks
The UN Security Council has strongly condemned the recent increase in attacks by the M23 rebel group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s volatile eastern region. These attacks have not only jeopardized security but have also worsened the already critical humanitarian situation in the area.
Statement by the UN Security Council
Following a briefing by Bintou Keita, the head of the UN mission MONUSCO, ambassadors from the Security Council denounced all armed groups operating in the country. They called for an immediate halt to hostilities and any further advancements made by the M23 rebel group.
