Mark Daigneault Named NBA Coach of the Year

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault was awarded the prestigious NBA Coach of the Year title for his exceptional leadership during the season.

Guiding the Thunder to Success

Despite coaching the league’s youngest roster, Daigneault led the Thunder to the top seed in the Western Conference with an impressive 57-25 record.

Achievements of the Season

  • The Thunder became the youngest No. 1 seed since 1970-71.
  • They boasted a top five offensive rating and top five defensive rating.
  • The team made the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
  • Enjoyed a 17-win improvement over the previous season.

Consistent Performance

This is not the first time Daigneault has been recognized for his coaching prowess. Last season, he led the Thunder to a 16-win improvement and secured a play-in victory.

Contract Extension and Record

Having signed a multi-year contract extension last summer, Daigneault has a 143-175 record with the Thunder since taking over as head coach in November 2020. He remains undefeated in the playoffs, with all victories coming against the New Orleans Pelicans this season.
