Volunteer Rescues Abandoned Dog from Volcano-Stricken Island
An Indonesian volunteer recently returned from a perilous rescue mission to a remote island where Mount Ruang had unleashed massive eruptions. The volunteer discovered an abandoned dog on the island, covered in blisters.
Mount Ruang Eruptions
Mount Ruang, located in Indonesia’s northernmost region, has experienced more than half a dozen eruptions since April 16. These eruptions have released a mix of ash, lava, and lightning, leading to the permanent relocation of the island’s residents and the evacuation of thousands more.
