FEU Lady Tamaraws’ Remarkable Turnaround
After a challenging season two years ago, the FEU Lady Tamaraws showcased an impressive transformation in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament.
Season Recap
With just one win in their previous season, the Lady Tamaraws finished fourth in the eliminations with a 9-5 record. Despite falling short of reaching the championship round, their journey was filled with pride and growth.
Coach’s Perspective
FEU coach Manolo Refugia expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress, highlighting the positive aspects of their season. He emphasized the growth and unity the team experienced under his guidance.
Key Matches
In a thrilling Final Four opener, FEU secured a victory against NU in straight sets. However, NU bounced back in the do-or-die semifinals, ending FEU’s run in the tournament.
Looking Ahead
With no graduating players, the Lady Tamaraws, led by Chen Tagaod and Tin Ubaldo, are poised to return stronger next season with increased experience and chemistry.
Player Gratitude
Faida Bakanke, FEU’s Congolese rookie, expressed her gratitude towards the Filipino volleyball community for their support and kindness. She acknowledged the team’s need to learn from their losses and mistakes to bounce back stronger in the future.
“Maraming, maraming salamat sa Filipino community,” Bakanke expressed her appreciation.
“I played well with the teammates and the coaches, we need to accept losing and the mistakes… we did not accept that now but we need to accept that, so next year we can make bawi (bounce back),” she added.
