Recall of Sliced Bread in Japan
More than 100,000 packets of sliced bread have been recalled in Japan after parts of a black rat’s body were discovered inside two of them, according to Pasco Shikishima Corporation.

Pasco Shikishima Corporation, a company known for its high standards of sanitation, is investigating how the rodent remains found their way into the products.
Recall Details
Around 104,000 packs of the processed white “chojuku” bread have been recalled in mainland Japan, from Tokyo to the northern Aomori region.
Company’s Response
The company issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience caused to customers and clients. Pasco confirmed that parts of a black rat had contaminated the two packs, which were produced at a factory in Tokyo. The factory’s assembly line has been suspended pending further investigation.

Pasco stated its commitment to strengthening the quality management system to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
Food Safety in Japan
While Japan is known for its cleanliness and hygiene standards, occasional food poisonings and recalls do occur. In a similar incident last year, a convenience store chain had to recall products after a cockroach was found in a rice ball.
The most recent health scare in Japan involved the recall of dietary supplements by drugmaker Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, which were linked to potential health risks.
