Brooke Van Sickle’s Journey as PVL MVP
Despite some doubts from a minority of volleyball enthusiasts regarding her Filipina heritage, newly-crowned PVL MVP Brooke Van Sickle is committed to giving her best for the Philippine women’s volleyball team after transitioning from the USA.
Embracing the Philippines
Playing in the Philippines has deeply impacted Brooke Van Sickle, and she is ready to once again win the hearts of fans. Van Sickle, previously associated with USA Volleyball, is now set to represent the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).
Van Sickle expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent the Philippines, stating, “It’s definitely an honor to be able to represent the Philippines for sure… I’d be super grateful to be able to represent this country and I’m welcomed with open arms. I’ll work hard.”
Outstanding Performance
Van Sickle showcased her talent with Petro Gazz, scoring a remarkable 66 points in a crucial two-game series that secured the bronze medal in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference. Her exceptional performance did not go unnoticed, with over 23,000 fans witnessing her dedication on the court.
Leading the league in total points scored, attacks, rejections, and aces, Van Sickle’s skills were truly unmatched. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, acknowledging her teammates for their support throughout the season.

Van Sickle’s goal is to continue supporting the growth of volleyball in the Philippines and elevate the country’s standing in the sport. She praised the professionalism and passion of the fans, highlighting the fantastic experience of playing in the country.
“It feels extremely professional, it feels awesome. Behind the scenes and make everything work out. It’s fantastic to play here,” Van Sickle remarked.
