Santa Cruz de Mayo 2024 Event
The Philippine Heritage Society, in partnership with the Filipinas Heritage Foundation, the Intramuros Administration, and the Admiral Hotel, is proud to announce the upcoming “Santa Cruz de Mayo 2024” event within the historic walled city on May 19. This event aims to showcase a traditional and religio-historical pageant to a new generation of Filipinos and tourists.
Participants in the Santacruzan
The Santacruzan is a processional activity held in May across the country to honor the search for the Holy Cross by Reyna Elena, the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great. Young women, known as “sagalas,” traditionally participate in the procession, representing various biblical and historical figures.
Highlighted Participants
Mother and daughter Zsa Zsa Padilla and Karylle Padilla Yuzon-Tatlonghari will grace the event as Reyna Emperatriz and Reyna Elena, respectively. Other sagalas and their roles include:
