MTRCB Supports PVL’s Code of Ethics Initiative
The Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has expressed its support for the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) initiative to establish a code of ethics and disciplinary regulations following a recent viral incident.
Background
An incident involving a Petrogazz player making a profane gesture on live television prompted the MTRCB to take action. The board summoned the PVL, show producers, and broadcasters (Nine Media and Cignal TV) to ensure compliance with ethical broadcasting standards.
MTRCB’s Statement
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto stated, “We are pleased that our dialogue has contributed to fostering a more ethical and responsible sports environment. Athletes, both on and off the court, serve as role models for young viewers and should exercise prudence and accountability in their actions.”
Sotto emphasized the importance of athletes setting good examples, especially for the youth, and commended PVL for taking proactive steps, such as creating their own code of ethics.
PVL’s Response
PVL Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo announced that the league has developed a comprehensive code of conduct. The code outlines the procedures, penalties, and sanctions for any violations within the league.
