Historic Muhammad Ali Boxing Trunks Up for Auction

Muhammad Ali’s trunks from the October 1975 ‘Thrilla in Manila’ boxing match with Joe Frazier are set to be auctioned until April 12.

Details of the Auction

Ali’s white satin boxing trunks, featuring a black trim and piping, are expected to fetch over $6 million. The trunks are inscribed by Ali’s assistant trainer and signed by Ali himself.

The Legendary Bout

The ‘Thrilla in Manila’ marked the brutal conclusion to the Ali-Frazier trilogy, with Ali emerging victorious in a punishing encounter that ended in the 15th round.

Historical Significance

The bout in the Philippines in 1975 was a spectacle that etched itself into sporting history, with Ali describing it as the closest thing to death he had ever felt in his career.

Ali’s record-setting career, showmanship, and controversial stands made him a 20th-century icon. His impact on boxing and beyond continues to be felt, even after his passing in 2016.
