Baltimore Bridge Collapse Update
Crews in Baltimore have made progress in restoring marine traffic following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Here are the latest developments:
Temporary Channels Opened
On Tuesday, a second temporary channel was opened to allow limited marine traffic to bypass the wreckage of the collapsed bridge. This has helped in easing the blockage of the main shipping channel that has been affecting the port’s operations.
Efforts to Restore Commercial Activity
Officials have announced ongoing work to open a third channel that will accommodate larger vessels, enabling more commercial activity to resume at the port. These channels are currently being used primarily by vessels involved in the cleanup operations, as well as some barges and tugs that were previously stranded.
