Brooke’s Brilliance: Van Sickle Secures MVP in Debut PVL Season

Petro Gazz’s Brooke Van Sickle Shines in PVL

In her debut Premier Volleyball League conference, Petro Gazz’s standout player Brooke Van Sickle clinched the 2024 All-Filipino Conference Most Valuable Player award. This achievement followed the Angels’ impressive third-place finish on May 12.

Van Sickle’s Stellar Performance

The Filipino-American athlete led the league in total points scored, registering 293 points through 242 attacks, 29 rejections, and 22 aces. Hailing from Hawaii, Van Sickle excelled as an outside spiker for the Angels, topping the service department with 0.42 aces per set. She also secured the fourth spot in spiking with a 36.39% success rate and in blocking with an average of 0.56 per set.

Other Notable Players

Joining Van Sickle in the league’s top performers were Choco Mucho’s Sisi Rondina and Creamline’s Jema Galanza, recognized as the Best Outside Hitters. Aiza Pontillas of Petro Gazz received the Best Opposite Hitter award. Creamline’s Kyle Negrito impressed by winning her first Best Setter award, while Pangs Panaga and Maddie Madayag of Creamline and Choco Mucho respectively were named the Best Middle Blockers. Choco Mucho’s Thang Ponce secured the Best Libero award for the second consecutive conference.

Fair Play Award

The Nxled Chameleons were honored with the league’s Fair Play Award for their sportsmanship throughout the competition.
