Cebu City Clinches Overall Championship at CVIRAA Meet 2024

Cebu City secured the top spot in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet 2024, showcasing a dominant performance throughout the event. The city emerged victorious with an impressive medal count, marking a significant achievement in regional sports.

Final Medal Tally

  • Gold Medals: 118
  • Silver Medals: 73
  • Bronze Medals: 78

The grand finale took place at the G Mall of Cebu, where Cebu City celebrated its success in front of a large audience comprising delegates and athletes from various regions, including Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol, and Cebu City.

Dumaguete secured the second position with 41 gold, 44 silver, and 33 bronze medals, followed by Bohol with 38 gold, 48 silver, and 56 bronze medals. Cebu City surpassed its previous performance from CVIRAA 2023, demonstrating continuous improvement in regional sports competitions.

Preparations for Palarong Pambansa 2024

As Cebu City concludes the CVIRAA Meet, the focus now shifts to preparing for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2024 scheduled for July. Key priorities include enhancing playing facilities and strengthening medical response teams to ensure a successful national event.

John Pages, Chairman of the Cebu City Sports Commission, emphasized the importance of post-event evaluations and ongoing enhancements to elevate the standards for the national meet. Despite facing challenges during the competitions, including medical emergencies, the city remains committed to delivering a world-class sporting experience.

Turnover to Bayawan City

During the event’s culmination, Bayawan City received the official turnover of the CVIRAA banner, symbolizing the next chapter of the regional sporting event in Negros Oriental. Bayawan City Councilor Rusmar Ian Tijing expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to host the upcoming event, pledging to showcase the city’s sporting spirit and hospitality.

In the official medal tally, Bayawan City secured the seventh position with 24 gold, 13 silver, and 19 bronze medals, reflecting the city’s commitment to athletic excellence.
