Race for Champions at CVIRAA 2024 Swimming Competition
Athletes showcased their skills at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) swimming pool during the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) 2024 swimming competition on May 6.
Tagbilaran and Dumaguete Dominate
Tagbilaran and Dumaguete emerged as the leading division teams in the CVIRAA 2024 swimming competitions, with Tagbilaran securing 10 gold medals, 8 silvers, and 3 bronzes, while Dumaguete collected 9 golds, 4 silvers, and 6 bronzes.
Outstanding Performances
- Boholana Kleone Mole and Dumagueteño Bernet Antonio Gonzaga clinched the first swimming gold medals in the 1,500-meter freestyle categories for secondary girls and boys, respectively.
- Tagbilaran coach Gladys Balog credited her team’s success to their dedication and discipline, with rigorous training schedules.
Future Prospects
Dumagueteño Marco Juan Sayson and teammate Karl Emmanuel Fernandez displayed exceptional talent, with Sayson winning two gold medals and Fernandez securing a gold, silver, and bronze in various categories.
Sayson expressed his aspirations for international sports, while Fernandez highlighted the importance of technique and endurance in training.
Both swimmers aim to qualify for the Palarong Pambansa 2024, following in the footsteps of their successful predecessors.
