Ethan Alvano Named MVP in Korean Basketball League
Filipino-American guard Ethan Alvano has achieved a historic milestone in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). Alvano, playing for Wonju DB Promy, was awarded the domestic MVP of the 2023-2024 KBL Season, marking the first time a non-Korean player has received this prestigious honor.
Impressive Season Performance
Throughout the regular season, Alvano showcased his skills by averaging 15.9 points, 6.6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 54 games. His contributions were instrumental in guiding Wonju to an outstanding 41-13 record.
Notable Career Highlights
Alvano, who is currently in his sophomore year in the KBL, joins a select group of Filipino imports in the league, including Rhenz Abando, SJ Belangel, Juan Gomez de Liaño, and others. Prior to his time with Wonju, Alvano has played for various teams internationally, demonstrating his versatility and talent.
Another standout player from Wonju, American import Dedric Lawson, was also recognized this season, receiving the foreign MVP award.
