Cautious Hopes for Gaza Strip Truce and Hostage-Release Deal

On Tuesday, there were cautious hopes building for a potential truce in the Gaza Strip and a deal for the release of hostages. Hamas announced that it was reviewing the latest proposal for the truce, while United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken was scheduled to return to Israel.

Hamas Considers 40-Day Ceasefire and Hostage Release

Hamas, the group responsible for the deadly attacks on October 7 that initiated the Gaza war, stated that it was evaluating a plan that includes a 40-day ceasefire and the release of numerous hostages in exchange for a larger number of Palestinian prisoners.
