Philippines’ Weightlifters Qualify for 2024 Paris Olympics

26-year-old John Ceniza and 20-year-old Rosegie Ramos are set to represent the Philippines in weightlifting at the 2024 Paris Games.

John Ceniza’s Qualification

John Ceniza secured his spot in Paris after a strong performance in the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup men’s 61kg event in Phuket, Thailand. Despite a setback in his snatch attempt, he lifted a total of 300kg, placing him within the top 10 qualification cutoff.

Other Filipino Olympians

Aside from Ceniza and Ramos, other Filipino athletes heading to Paris include pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan, and boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas. Notable weightlifters still vying for qualification are Hidilyn Diaz, Vanessa Sarno, Elreen Ando, and Kristel Macrohon.
