Marian Rivera’s Highly Anticipated Return to GMA Network
After a five-year acting hiatus, Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera is set to make her highly anticipated return to GMA Network’s primetime block. Rivera’s last TV appearance was in 2018 when she starred in the action-fantasy series “Super Ma’am.”
Challenges and Adjustments in Returning to Television
During the grand media conference of her upcoming show, Rivera candidly shared the challenges she faced in returning to acting for television after a long break. She mentioned struggling with memorizing lines and adjusting to the technical aspects of filming.
“At first, I really struggled because after five years, I’ve returned to doing a soap opera, and I didn’t know my angles or where the lighting was. So I went through some adjustments, for sure,” Rivera shared.
She expressed her gratitude towards her director, Zig Dulay, for guiding her through the process and making her work easier.
The Project and Motivation Behind Rivera’s Comeback
Despite requesting a less demanding role for her comeback, Rivera was drawn to the challenging project “My Guardian Alien” due to its unique storyline and the opportunity for her children to watch her on screen.
“When GMA presented [the project] to me, I really liked it and said it would be wonderful to do. It’s new to me and a series that my children can watch,” Rivera enthused.
The Plot of “My Guardian Alien”
In the family drama with a touch of sci-fi and fantasy, Rivera plays the role of Katherine Soriano, a doting wife and mother whose life takes a dramatic turn when a shooting incident kills her. The story unfolds further when an alien takes Katherine’s form and lands on Earth.
Collaboration with Gabby Concepcion and the Cast
Rivera is joined by Gabby Concepcion, who plays the role of Carlos, Katherine’s husband. The duo’s on-screen chemistry and camaraderie have been praised by the cast and crew.
“Working with Kuya Gabby is really easy. There isn’t anything you won’t like about him. He’s such a kind partner and loves to joke around, so he really lightens the atmosphere on the set,” shared Marian.
Concepcion expressed his support for the cast and his excitement to work alongside Rivera in her comeback project.
Premiere and Schedule
“My Guardian Alien” is set to premiere on April 1 and will air weeknights at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Prime. The program will also have a delayed telecast on GTV at 10:50 p.m.
