North Korea Conducts Test of “Super-Large Warhead”
North Korea recently tested a “super-large warhead” designed for a strategic cruise missile, according to state media reports. This test comes after UN sanctions monitoring against North Korea was disrupted by Russia last month.
Russia’s Role in UN Sanctions
In March, Russia vetoed UN monitoring of violations of sanctions imposed on North Korea, effectively ending the oversight of sanctions related to its nuclear and weapons programs.

The DPRK Missile Administration conducted a power test of the warhead designed for the ‘Hwasal-1 Ra-3’ strategic cruise missile, as reported by the KCNA news agency.
Additionally, North Korea carried out a test launch of the “‘Pyoljji-1-2’ new-type anti-aircraft missile in the West Sea of Korea,” according to KCNA.
Seoul’s Response
Seoul’s military detected several cruise missiles and surface-to-air missiles fired towards the Yellow Sea and stated that it is closely monitoring North Korea’s military activities.
If Pyongyang engages in any provocation, Seoul is prepared to respond decisively.

Analysts suggest that North Korea’s missile tests may be in response to Russian demand for new weapons. The country stated that the tests were part of its regular activities and unrelated to the current situation.
