Levi Jung-Ruivivar’s Impressive Performance
The Philippines’ Levi Jung-Ruivivar secured a spot in the uneven bars final of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Doha, Qatar. Her performance has boosted her chances of qualifying for the Paris Olympics alongside Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan.
Qualification and Rankings
Jung-Ruivivar finished eighth in the qualification round with a score of 13.2 points. She can secure her ticket to Paris by ranking in the top two of the uneven bars at the end of the four-leg World Cup Series.
- Jung-Ruivivar entered Doha with 44 points in the Olympic rankings.
- Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour topped the qualification with 15.4 points.
- Sweden’s Nathalie Westlund, Portugal’s Filipa Martins, Belgium’s Maellyse Brassart, and Ukraine’s Anna Lashchevska also made it to the final cast.
Olympic Qualification
Only eligible athletes are ranked for Olympic qualification. This means that even if the top three athletes in the uneven bars final have already secured their Paris spots, the fourth placer will be considered the highest eligible athlete and will be rewarded 30 points.
- Each placing in the Doha leg awards different points, with a minimum of 10 points for eighth place and 30 points for first place.
- Jung-Ruivivar can earn a minimum of 16 points and a maximum of 30 points in Doha.
Competition for Olympic Seat
Jung-Ruivivar is battling Westlund, Tsitavets, and Brassart for the last Olympic seat available in the apparatus. The uneven bars final is scheduled on Friday, April 19.
