Alas Pilipinas Volleyball Team Ready for AVC Challenge Cup
The Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team is gearing up for the 2024 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup, starting their campaign against Australia on May 23 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Star-Studded Lineup
Despite being the lowest-ranked team in Pool A, Alas Pilipinas is determined to show their strength with a new roster filled with both experienced players and promising young talents. The team is led by captain Jia de Guzman, PVL MVP Sisi Rondina, and renowned libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig.
Joining them are rising stars like UAAP MVP Angel Canino, spiker Eya Laure, and former La Salle players Thea Gagate and Fifi Sharma.
Challenges Ahead
While the team boasts impressive talent, the lack of time to build chemistry may pose a challenge. With the lineup coming together just days before the tournament due to prior commitments, Alas Pilipinas faces the task of finding cohesion quickly.
Match Against Australia
The team’s first test will be against Australia, a strong opponent in the competition. Will Alas Pilipinas be able to secure a victory and make a statement, or will Australia prove to be a formidable rival?
The match is scheduled to start around 7 pm, following the conclusion of other games.
