Endurance Swimmer Ingemar Macarine to Attempt Record-Breaking Swim
Endurance swimmer Ingemar Macarine, also known as the “Pinoy Aquaman,” is gearing up to set a new record by swimming unassisted in open water from Olotayan Island to mainland Roxas City. This challenging feat is scheduled for Sunday, March 17.
Previous Achievements
- Macarine successfully swam across the Masbate Channel in June 2023.
- He holds the record for swimming a 10.5-kilometer distance from Bugtong Island to Matayum in Masbate.
Upcoming Challenge
His next goal is to swim approximately 10 kilometers from Olotayan Island to the People’s Park in Roxas City, Capiz. This endeavor is not only a personal challenge but also a part of his advocacy for clean seas, coastal conservation, local tourism, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Macarine anticipates facing obstacles such as strong eight-knot amihan winds and the presence of jellyfish during the swim. Despite the challenges, he is determined to make history with this unprecedented swim to Roxas City from Olotayan Island.
This remarkable feat is supported by Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, highlighting the community’s backing for Macarine’s mission. Stay tuned to witness this extraordinary swim and support Macarine in his pursuit of setting new records in open water swimming.
