Record-breaking Performance: Knott closes in on Olympic qualifying standard

Sprinter Kristina Knott Sets National Record

Filipina-American sprinter Kristina Knott achieved a remarkable feat by resetting her own national record in the women’s 100m event at the Philippine Athletics Championships. Competing at the PhilSports Track Oval in Pasig, Knott clocked an impressive 11.2 seconds in the heats, surpassing her previous record of 11.27 seconds set in 2020.

Quest for Paris Olympics Qualifying Standard

To secure her spot in the Paris Olympics, Knott aims to meet the challenging qualifying standard of 11.07 seconds in the women’s 100m. Despite a slightly slower performance in the finals, Knott clinched the gold medal with a time of 11.51 seconds, showcasing her dominance in the event.

Double Victory for Knott

Expressing her joy after the win, Knott mentioned, “It feels good to come back after so many years and get both the 100m and 200m titles.” The sprinter, who previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics, is now eyeing a qualification in the women’s 200m event for the upcoming Paris Games.

Olympic Aspirations

With stiff competition and limited slots available, Knott faces a tough challenge in securing her place among the top athletes vying for Olympic qualification. As she continues her pursuit for a spot in the Paris Olympics, Knott remains focused and determined to excel in upcoming competitions, including those in Spain.
