Former UE Star Rey Remogat Transfers to UP Fighting Maroons
Former UE Red Warriors star Rey Remogat has made the decision to join the UP Fighting Maroons in pursuit of a UAAP championship. Remogat expressed his desire to experience a championship and highlighted UP’s team environment and culture as key factors in his transfer.
Performance and Transition
Remogat, a UAAP Season 86 Mythical Five member, showcased impressive stats during his time with the Red Warriors, averaging 16.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 2 steals. Despite his individual success, UE fell short of reaching the Final Four, while UP narrowly missed the title. This led Remogat to contemplate his future and ultimately make the move to UP.
UP’s Track Record and Residency
UP Fighting Maroons have been a consistent presence in the Final Four since Season 81, clinching one championship and securing three runner-up finishes. In his transition to Diliman, Remogat was warmly welcomed by the team as he began his one-year residency at State U. He expressed gratitude for the support and sense of belonging within the UP community.
Future Prospects and Reunion
Remogat looks forward to Season 88 in 2025 when he will officially don the UP jersey. He expressed excitement about practicing with seasoned guard JD Cagulangan and aims to learn from his senior’s experience. Additionally, Remogat anticipates reuniting with former teammate Gani Stevens to reignite their on-court chemistry and pursue a championship together.
Coach Monteverde’s Leadership
Head coach Goldwin Monteverde’s continued presence at the helm of the UP Fighting Maroons brings stability and vision to the team. His recent five-year extension underscores the program’s commitment to sustained success in the UAAP.
