Olympic rower Cris Nievarez and Joanie Delgaco have advanced to the semifinals of the World Rowing Asia and Oceania Continental Qualification Regatta, bringing them closer to a spot in the Paris Games.
Cris Nievarez’s Journey
Cris Nievarez secured his place in the semifinals of the men’s singles sculls by finishing third in the repechage. Despite missing the top two semifinal spots in the heats, Nievarez’s determination paid off as he clocked an impressive time to advance.
Joanie Delgaco’s Success
Joanie Delgaco also showed her prowess by securing a spot in the semifinals of the women’s singles sculls after finishing second in the heats.
Path to Paris
Both Nievarez and Delgaco are aiming to finish in the top five of their respective categories to represent the Philippines in the Paris Games. The men’s lightweight doubles sculls tandem of Rynjie Penaredondo and Zuriel Sumintac are also in contention for an Olympic spot.
