Russia Strikes More Than 30 Towns and Villages in Kharkiv

Russia’s Offensive in Kharkiv Region

Russia launched a ground offensive in the northeastern Ukrainian region of Kharkiv, resulting in the pounding of more than 30 villages and towns. This has led to the evacuation of nearly 6,000 people, as confirmed by the governor of the region.

Tactical Success for Russia

The General Staff of Ukraine acknowledged that Russia has been achieving tactical success by breaching Kyiv’s defenses. The Defense Ministry of Russia reported that their troops have improved their tactical position and inflicted damage on Ukrainian forces in border villages like Lyptsi and the town of Vovchansk.

Escalation of Attacks

According to Sergiy Kryvetchenko, deputy head of the military administration in Lyptsi, the Russian forces are relentlessly shelling villages and targeting civilian areas. The situation in Kharkiv is described as complex and rapidly evolving, with ongoing assaults by Russian troops in various areas.

Humanitarian Impact

Over 5,700 people have been evacuated from their homes since the start of the offensive. The governor of Kharkiv reported that enemy artillery and mortar attacks have caused injuries to at least nine individuals, with some areas being bombed by Russian aircraft.

Frontline Developments

The governor mentioned on national television that the frontline and the gray zone are expanding due to Russia’s strategic moves. Reports indicate that Russia has taken control of pockets of territory and is advancing towards key areas like Vovchansk and Lyptsi, despite Ukrainian efforts to resist.
