UN 2.0 Vision
Mr. Guterres emphasized the necessity for a UN 2.0, stating that 21st-century problems cannot be solved with outdated 20th-century tools. The transformation towards a UN 2.0 aims to enhance skills and culture within the organization, focusing on cutting-edge capabilities in data, digital solutions, innovation, foresight, and behavioral science. This evolution is geared towards achieving stronger results and supporting countries in accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Forward-Thinking Culture
The Secretary-General also stressed the importance of fostering a “forward-thinking culture” at the UN, driven by rapid technological advancements. This shift is crucial in light of the proposed changes outlined in Our Common Agenda and the upcoming Summit of the Future in September.
