La Salle Lady Spikers in UAAP Season 86 Final Four Contention
The La Salle Lady Spikers are currently in the thick of twice-to-beat Final Four contention in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament alongside fellow title contenders NU and UST.
Battling Injuries
Battered by late-season injuries to UAAP MVP Angel Canino and role player Baby Jyne Soreño, the defending champions face challenges as they maintain a 10-2 win-loss record. The recent injury to Baby Jyne Soreño adds to their list of concerns, with the possibility of a dislocated shoulder after a collision during a match against Adamson.
Remaining Positive
Despite the setbacks, Shevana Laput, a key player for La Salle, remains optimistic. She emphasizes the importance of sticking to their system and giving their best effort on the court.
With the absence of Canino and Soreño, La Salle’s lineup has been adjusted, with Laput, Maicah Larroza, Julia Coronel, Thea Gagate, and Amie Provido stepping up to fill the gaps.
Looking Ahead
Despite the challenges, Laput believes that the team has the potential to meet their high expectations under the guidance of coach Ramil de Jesus. She acknowledges the importance of mental strength and confidence in facing upcoming matches.
As they prepare for the semis and finals, Laput emphasizes the need for the team to be mentally prepared and confident in their abilities.
