Snakes on a Bullet Train: An Unusual Incident in Japan
Even in a country known for its punctual bullet trains, unexpected events can occur. One such incident took place between Nagoya and Tokyo when a 40-centimeter serpent was discovered on board, causing a brief delay in the high-speed “shinkansen” service.
The Serpent Encounter
A passenger alerted security to the presence of the snake, leading to a 17-minute hold-up as authorities dealt with the situation. Despite the unusual occurrence, there was no cause for panic among passengers, and no injuries were reported.

While small dogs, cats, and even pigeons are allowed on shinkansen trains, snakes are strictly prohibited. The railway company emphasized the importance of adhering to these rules to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.
