Tragedy in Indonesia: 11 Killed and Dozens Injured in School Bus Crash

Tragic Bus Crash in Indonesia

On a graduation trip, a bus carrying high school students met with a tragic accident on Indonesia’s biggest island, resulting in the loss of eleven lives and leaving many others injured.

Details of the Accident

The bus, transporting over 60 students and teachers from Depok to Lembang, crashed at 6:48 p.m. on a Saturday evening. The students, who had just celebrated their graduation, were on a school trip when the bus lost control, tilted to the left, and collided with a car and three motorbikes.

Victims of the Accident

Among the casualties, nine were students, and one was a teacher. Additionally, one motorcyclist lost their life, 13 individuals sustained serious injuries, and 40 others suffered minor injuries.

Possible Cause of the Accident

While the local traffic police chief suspected a brake malfunction in the bus, investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the tragic incident.

Road Safety Concerns in Indonesia

Indonesia has been grappling with a high rate of deadly traffic accidents, often attributed to old and poorly maintained vehicles, as well as a lack of adherence to road regulations.

Previous Incidents

Not long ago, a similar tragedy occurred when a car collided with a bus and another vehicle on a busy highway in West Java, claiming the lives of at least 12 individuals as they were traveling to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr.

This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vehicle maintenance to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
