Tragedy in Pakistan: Bus Crash Claims Lives of 27 People

Tragic Bus Accident in Balochistan, Pakistan

On Wednesday, a devastating bus accident in Balochistan province, Pakistan, resulted in the loss of at least 27 lives. The incident occurred in Basima town, as the bus was en route from Turbat city to Quetta.

Details of the Accident

According to Ismail Mengal, a local government official, the driver lost control of the bus while navigating a turn in a mountainous area, causing it to plunge into a deep ravine. The toll currently stands at 27 fatalities, with more than 25 individuals sustaining injuries.

Possible Causes

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the tragic accident. Speculations include the driver falling asleep or speeding, leading to the loss of control.

Medical Response

Noor Ullah, the chief doctor at Civil Hospital Basima, confirmed that among the 27 deceased individuals taken to the hospital were three women and two children. The injured, including the driver, are receiving medical attention.

Government Response

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed profound sorrow and grief over the incident, as reported by his office. The government is likely to take further actions to address road safety concerns.

Background on Road Safety in Pakistan

Tragic road accidents with high casualties are unfortunately common in Pakistan. Factors such as inadequate safety measures, poor driver training, and deteriorating transport infrastructure contribute to the frequency of such incidents.

Previous Incidents

This recent accident adds to a series of tragic events on Pakistani roads. In April, 17 pilgrims lost their lives and 41 were injured in a crash in Balochistan’s Hub district. Additionally, in January last year, 41 individuals perished in a bus accident that resulted in a fiery blaze.
