Severe Weather Impact in Southern Brazil

Raging floodwaters, mudslides, and severe storms have caused significant damage in southern Brazil, with Porto Alegre facing the brunt of the devastation.

Impact Statistics

  • 57 people confirmed dead
  • 70,000 individuals displaced
  • 74 reported injuries
  • 67 individuals currently missing

The casualties do not include two individuals who tragically lost their lives in an explosion at a flooded gas station in Porto Alegre.

Rescue crews were on site attempting to refuel when the incident occurred, as witnessed by a journalist from Agence France-Presse (AFP).
