US Issues Warning of ‘Anarchy’ Amid Ongoing Gaza Clashes

Israeli Forces Battle Hamas Militants in Gaza Strip

Israeli forces engaged in intense battles with Hamas militants in various parts of the Gaza Strip, defying warnings against a full-scale invasion. The clashes, including in Rafah, have raised concerns about postwar anarchy across the Palestinian territory.

Current Situation

Clashes were reported in northern and central areas of the Strip, with helicopter strikes and heavy artillery shelling in the east of Rafah. Battles also took place in northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp and Gaza City’s Zeitun neighborhood.

Israeli Prime Minister’s Statement

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the ongoing nature of the conflict, stating that “our war of independence is not over yet. It continues even today. We are determined to win this struggle.”

Humanitarian Crisis

The conflict has led to an exodus of nearly 360,000 people from Rafah, with warnings from the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees about the lack of safety in the devastated territory.

International Concerns

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed concerns about the protection of civilians in Rafah and the potential consequences of the conflict, highlighting the risks of insurgency and chaos in the region.

Evacuation Orders and Displacement

Rafah residents have been receiving evacuation orders, further displacing the population. The ongoing war and siege have resulted in the displacement of most Gazans, creating a dire humanitarian situation.

Memorial Day and Independence Day

As Israel marked Memorial Day, sirens sounded across the country in honor of fallen soldiers and civilian victims. The country is preparing to celebrate its 76th Independence Day, while Palestinians commemorate the Nakba annually on May 15.

Health System Crisis

The Gaza Strip’s health system is on the brink of collapse, with fighting blocking fuel shipments and hindering humanitarian aid efforts. The situation remains critical as the conflict continues.
