Rosegie Ramos Qualifies for Paris Olympics
Rosegie Ramos, a 20-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga, has secured her spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics after an impressive performance in the IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand.
Qualification Details
- Ramos became the first Filipino weightlifter to qualify for Paris by remaining in the top 10 of the IWF Olympic Qualification Ranking.
- She topped Group B with a total lift of 190kg, clearing 87kg in the snatch and 103kg in the clean and jerk.
- Her qualification was confirmed by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.
Other Filipino Athletes Bound for Paris
Ramos joins a growing list of Filipino athletes heading to Paris, including pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan, and boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas.
More weightlifters are expected to qualify for Paris, with Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz, Vanessa Sarno, and John Ceniza also in the top 10 of the Olympic Qualification Ranking.
Elreen Ando and Kristel Macrohon are also set to compete in the ongoing World Cup until April 11.
